Lisa G., Veterinary Assistant

Lisa has been a part of the TruVet team since June 2023 as a veterinary assistant and has been in the industry for 9 years. In college, she worked as a retail supervisor for various outdoor, skate, and surf companies around the Bay Area. After graduation, she spent some time working as a ranch assistant for two professional horse trainers. She entered the specialty veterinary field in 2015, starting as a service coordinator for the surgical department and gradually moving up the ranks to an assistant role and more recently, a supervisor. She has also worked in emergency veterinary services, which she continues to enjoy, and has worked as a receptionist for two human outpatient surgical centers in San Francisco.

She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from San Francisco State University, Class of 2014. Her volunteer work includes caring for harbor seals at the Marine Mammal Center and assisting at Giant Steps Therapeutic Riding Center.

In her free time, she loves hiking in the great outdoors, gardening summertime swims at the river, spending time with family and friends, exploring new places and food spots, photography, and traveling whenever she can. As a former competitive AQHA youth equestrian, she still enjoys horseback riding whenever the opportunity arises.

She shares her home with her husband and their first child is on the way, expected in September 2024. Her immediate family members are native to the Bay Area, with ancestors who immigrated to San Francisco and the East Bay from Italy, Ireland, Switzerland, and Sweden in the mid to late 1800s.

Though she currently has no pets, her beloved quarter horse, “Sony,” (and dearest friend) crossed the rainbow bridge in 2021 after a battle with cancer.

The most inspiring part of her job is the constant opportunity to learn, grow, and work with amazing and talented people every day. Her advice to anyone interested in joining the TruVet team is to be open-minded, flexible, willing to help, and always remain humble.
