Sierra F., RVT, Surgery Department Supervisor

Sierra joined the TruVet team in April 2025 as our Surgery Department Supervisor, bringing with her a deep passion for surgical nursing and anesthesia. Since earning her RVT license in 2011, Sierra has focused primarily on surgery, while also gaining valuable experience in emergency and ICU settings.

Before pursuing a career in veterinary medicine, Sierra worked in commercial landscaping and fine dining in Chicago, Illinois. She earned her Associate of Applied Science degree from Carrington College in 2011, trading garden plans and gourmet menus for scrubs and surgery suites, and she’s never looked back.

Outside the hospital, Sierra is all about soaking up the outdoors and enjoying life’s simple pleasures. She loves hiking, cycling, beachcombing, and relaxing by the pool. At home, she’s just as comfortable in the kitchen, where she whips up delicious meals to pair with her favorite wines.

Her home life is shared with a sweet trio of feline companions: Trixie, a wise and cozy brown tabby; Bandit, a mellow and affectionate long-haired kitty; and Jinx, a spunky one-eyed, special-needs kitten who doesn’t let anything slow her down. Jinx is a shelter rescue that had hip surgery at the young age of 5 months!

What Sierra finds most rewarding about her work at TruVet is watching patients reunite with their families, whether fully recovered or finally on the mend. It’s those moments of relief, joy, and healing that remind her why she chose this path.
