Melissa A., Registered Veterinary Technician
Melissa joined the TruVet team in June 2025 and brings with her an incredible wealth of experience and knowledge, over 30 years in the veterinary field! Her career has taken her through nearly every corner of animal care, including general practice, specialty and emergency medicine, research at UCSF, and even teaching future veterinary technicians as an instructor. She earned her Associate Degree in Health Studies from Western Career College (now Carrington College) and became a licensed RVT in 1996.
In addition to her broad clinical background, Melissa is Fear Free Certified, bringing a gentle, thoughtful approach to every patient interaction. Her calm and compassionate demeanor helps make even the most anxious pets feel safe and supported.
When she’s not at work, Melissa is all about quality time with family and friends. She’s the proud mom of three children, spanning three different decades, and is excited to soon become a grandma!
Melissa’s home is filled with four-legged love: Hailey and Biggie, her affectionate pit bulls (Biggie is a proud “shorty” Pittie!), and her four feline companions, Snickers and Beans, both sweet and spunky short-haired cats, along with Ally and Ash, her soft and cuddly medium-haired duo.
What Melissa loves most about her work is witnessing the transformation of a sick pet returning to health and the pure joy it brings when they’re reunited with their family. For her, it’s a privilege to play a part in those heartwarming moments.
