Monica D., Pharmacy and Laboratory Assistant
Monica joined the TruVet team in February 2025, bringing with her a diverse background and a passion for animal care that shines through in everything she does. With three years of experience in general practice, she now works primarily in our pharmacy and laboratory area, where her sharp attention to detail and love for learning are a perfect match for the fast-paced world of specialty and emergency medicine.
Before finding her home in vet med, Monica wore many hats, including that of a line cook in the restaurant industry and a research intern at UC Davis, where she worked with dairy cows and piglets. Her journey to veterinary medicine has been anything but ordinary, and we love the well-rounded expertise she brings to the table (and the treatment area!).
Monica holds an Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts from The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New Jersey (yes, she can whip up a mean meal), and received her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from UC Davis with plans to apply to veterinary school in the near future.
She is Fear-Free Shelter Certified and certified in artificial insemination for cattle, skills that speak to both her compassion and her commitment to animal welfare.
Monica is a true creative. She plays both the piano and violin, enjoys drawing, and, not surprisingly, still loves to cook in her spare time.
She shares her life with an adorable crew: Bocuse and Boulud, her two charming English Bulldogs (named after famous French chefs, naturally), and two feline companions, Mori, a black and white domestic shorthair, and Moto, a tuxedo cat with plenty of personality.
What Monica loves most about TruVet is how well everyone works together as a team to help our patients. There’s always something new to learn each day, and that keeps her motivated and excited about where she is headed in this field.
