Dr. Julie Damron, Emergency Veterinarian, DVM

Meet Dr. Julie Damron, a lifelong animal lover and passionate veterinarian! Born and raised in sunny Southern California, Dr. Damron always dreamed of caring for animals. She pursued this dream at UC Davis, earning both her undergraduate and graduate degrees, and later completing a prestigious Don Lowe Fellowship in Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Damron started her career as a small animal practitioner in bustling San Joaquin County but soon discovered her true passion for emergency medicine. For the past nine years, she has been the night owl of Northern California, working overnight shifts and providing critical care to pets in need. She joined TruVet because of their top-notch medical care and the staff’s dedication to treating patients like family.

Throughout her career, Dr. Damron has been a whirlwind of community involvement. She wrote pet columns for the Stockton Record and Lodi Sentinel, helped pass animal ordinances, created a surgical suite at the Stockton City/County Animal Shelter, and volunteered performing surgeries on feral cats and small dogs for six years. She also mentored veterinary technician students, established a free vaccine clinic for pets of the homeless, and supported law enforcement K-9 units.

Dr. Damron’s community spirit doesn’t stop there. She hosted a radio/video show, Tails and Tips, served on multiple boards, and participated in numerous fundraising and outreach events. From rappelling down a 12-story building for hospice to running a grassroots campaign for Board of Supervisors, she has done it all. Her efforts have earned her numerous awards, including the San Joaquin Wonder Woman Award and Stockton’s Hero Award.

Since COVID, Dr. Damron has dedicated herself to working as many overnight emergency shifts as possible, responding to the growing need for veterinary care. When she’s not saving furry lives, she enjoys beach trips, hiking, museums, and spending time with her husband, their blue Weimaraner, Indigo, and their newly rescued kitten, Felicity.
