Angelina Calvo, Veterinary Assistant

When I was a little girl I remember wanting to be a Disney Princess so I could talk to and hang out with animals all day, I even told everyone I wanted to work with them when I grew up. As time passed I always ended up in different jobs that didn’t involve animals until I turned in my application to work at a veterinary hospital seven years ago. While there I was blessed enough to be put into their internal medicine department. I remember witnessing my very first endoscopic procedure and feeling like I had finally found my place in the world. I’ve spent most of my years in veterinary medicine working in internal medicine, emergency and inpatient care. A couple years ago I decided to go back to school and finish my prerequisites for human nursing and acquired my Associates in Science for Pre-Allied Health. While I do plan on eventually applying for nursing school and seeing what human medicine has to offer, I will always have a deep passion and love for animal medicine and even see myself continuing to work in the field long after making the switch to human medicine. There’s something indescribable about being able to take care of someone’s fur baby and to be able to give owners the assurance that their family member is getting the best possible care and I’m extremely happy to be a part of the amazing team at TruVet that I know goes above and beyond to do that.

When I’m not at work I enjoy spending as much time as possible with my Boston Terrier Jax, my mom, my boyfriend and my family. I love collecting vinyl records and plants. I also love creating things like scrapbooks, wall tapestries and greeting cards. And anyone who knows me knows about my obsession with sloths and Tom Hanks.

I am truly grateful to be a part of the team and fully intend to give every animal that comes through those doors the best care possible!
